Sledding, so much fun. You spend several minutes layering on warm clothing...drive to a hill...get sweaty on the way there...get out and get chilled...go down the hill...climb up the hill...let your brother go down...wait for him to climb back up...go down the hill...climb back up...
...it has a whole new take when you have kids...sledding seems to have more meaning...the snow is colder...the hill is more thrilling...the climb back up doesn't seem as long...and when you're done, you feel refreshed and younger.

One of my favorite memories of sledding is from my childhood. If you know my dad, and especially the condition he is in now, you can appreciate it even more. Our favorite place to sled was at a country club on the outskirts of Morris. We only had one sled...that wooden one with the red metal sliders. Dad must have been full of energy that particular day we went, because he was in our sled rotation. It was more fun to watch him go down because he went down standing up. The best was when he only made it halfway down and bit the snow. My brother and I laughed so hard....of course, I waited to make sure he was okay before I started laughing...okay, ....so I tried not to laugh....right away.......but I did feel better when Dad started laughing, too. Dad waited for his next turn then tried it again. A little further that time...I thought my dad was so cool and so brave.

Now, I see Jason doing the same thing...I call it insanity,
but I remember how cool I thought my dad
was when he was daring.
So, Jason, keep impressing us.
And, let me get that backflip on video before you retire it!
