Brown cow, brown cow, what do you see?
A funny thing happened to me the other night, funny in a weird way. I was making a night time trip down to my dad's when, on the side of the road, I saw some glowing eyes with my headlights. Assuming it was a deer, I slowed way down, almost to a complete stop. I looked at the animal as I slowly drove by it and was shocked to see that it was a cow. It didn't stand there long and ran off the other way. I'm used to seeing deer, squirrels, raccoons, and other typical roadkill either on the road or on the side of the road, but not a farm animal.

So, that's not the end of the story. I shared my strange sighting with my sister-in-law and my stepmom. The next day, my stepmom gave me an article in the newspaper about a man from Joliet who had hit a cow near the same road I was on about 30 minutes before. The last line in the article was "there was no information available on the cow." :)
So, after I got the article from my stepmom, I showed my sister-in-law. She realized that I wasn't losing my mind and that I had actually seen a cow. We proceeded to tell my other sister-in-law about what had happened when she seemed to know something about. Apparently, a few days before I saw the cow, a truck pulling a cow trailer had taken a curve too quickly and had tipped over, letting a lot of cows loose. Six had never been recovered. They were roaming around outside of Seneca, and I got to see one! Yay for me.
So, the lesson in this one is 1)go slow around curves when you're pulling cows and 2)knowing the whole story makes it all make sense!
So, that's my funny story for this week.
