football camp

I just got back from spending a couple of days at the JT varsity football camp.

Wow. It was a life-changing experience for me, and I wasn't even a player. I know these boys will remember this camp for a very long time.

What I expected: sweat, water, stinky equipment, sun, football, whistles, hitting, running, catching, muscles, rolled ankles, taped up wrists, drills, drills, and more drills...

What I didn't expect: creative skits, trust falls 5 feet off the ground, counting to 15, tears, hugs, transparency...realizing that these huge, intimidating football players are just teenage boys who still need encouragement, love, and acceptance...apprehensively leaving this morning...I didn't want to go, I wanted to see the boys finish their camp.

I am so glad I went. I am so glad I got to see my husband coach them. I am so glad I got to see them as who they are. I am so glad I was a part of this.

5 foot trust falls and counting to 15 were two separate activities... :)

that is really cool, Dana! it kind of made me tear up when I read it. you and Jason are certainly making a huge impact on those boys. they will reap benefits from what they've learned for their whole lives. i am praying that God will do something huge at JT this season!
