you can't catch me

One of my life "missions" is to collect experiences.

Before Christmas, I made a small list of things I wanted to do or experience this year. One of my experiences to collect was to decorate a gingerbread house.

Well, I never did it before Christmas, but, as I was browsing through the Christmas clearance section in early January, I found a gingerbread house kit (for only $2.50!). I bought it, despite the weird look Jason was giving me, and decided to decorate it with the kids.

It was our first gingerbread house ever, and it was a little more difficult than I thought it would be (not the decorating, but my kids). We did have fun, eventually.

The kids all agreed that it looked much better than it tasted.

Next year, I want to make the whole thing...no kits.

I'll let you know how it goes.

girl - you are going to make your own gingerbread house...from scratch?!?!?!

WOW - that's ambitious!

We made a gingerbread house for the first time this year too. The kids had a blast. I realized too late though that Grady would put the candy in his mouth & then on to the house. No wonder we all have colds! I also managed to put the roof on upside down - who knew singles had to hang a certain direction? ;)

Good luck next year. I agree, they definitely looks better than they taste!

We've done gingerbread houses and I agree--they aren't tasty. The icing has to be thick like glue to hold, which means it dries hard and hurts to eat. Ugh. So, when we want to decorate for the purpose of eating, we make gingerbread COOKIES and decorate them. Soft icing. Yummy.
