When Jason first started coaching, we wanted to settle at a place once Kylah started school. But, our plans weren't reality. Jason got new job after new job, each time taking a step up in his coaching career. After Ky finished kindergarten, she transferred to a new school for 1st and 2nd grade, then transferred again to a new school for 3rd and 4th grade, then one more time for 5th grade. That's 4 schools in 5 years, not something I'm proud of. What I am proud of is how Kylah adjusted to each new school.
The worst part of Jason getting a new job was telling Ky. And, as she got older, it didn't get easier, it got much harder.
She did an excellent job, though, of meeting friends, making connections, and studying hard. She's always been an excellent student, something that can't be easy to do when you continue to transfer from school to school, from curriculum to curriculum.
Ky is a brave one. Braver than I ever was before a move. I finally got the right perspective after our 2nd move, and it was this: As hard as it is to unpack boxes and move into a new home sans the help of my husband who is consumed with football practice, to update and change our address to as many people as I can, to gather packed paperwork to prove we live within the district to register the kids for school, it was no match for the feeling Ky feels on the first day of school walking into an unfamiliar building into a classroom full of kids she doesn't know.
Thankfully, Jaxon and Kennedy haven't had to transfer, and I'm hoping they won't ever have to transfer. But, if they do, I pray that God will give them what He gave Ky to face the unknown.
