h.e.c. day 5

Alright, here's one just for today. Because it's Sunday, I'll brag on my drummer. He. Is. Awesome. I love that he plays the drums in our worship band.

Before we even hooked up, Jason played the drums for our church. Let me tell you, I totally struggled with the whole motivation for going to church. Yes, I was totally there for God, but, seriously, watching the drummer during worship was what I ended up doing. Sad, I know. I've already repented.

He continued playing after we got married, not for big church, but for youth group. You see, after we got married and moved to Bloomington/Normal (we were ISU students) we became youth leaders. During youth service, he played the drums and I sang. He rocks. He plays hard.

Then, we graduated and moved, and he hung up his drumsticks. :(

He told me that he was probably done playing, because he was a football coach. For a few years, Jason went through a stage where he thought football coaches weren't cool, so, because he was one, he couldn't be cool.

Fast forward 4 moves and several years later. He is now a drummer in our worship band! I was so excited when he volunteered to "fill in" for our previous drummer until a new drummer could be found. Well, he's still "filling in," and it's been over a year. He plays with such passion, and still worships God as he's playing. Whenever he plays, my back is towards him, because I'm singing, so I can't really watch him - which is probably good, I guess - keeps my focus on God. :)

Jason, I think you're an awesome drummer, and I love that you are playing again!
