happy birthday

Wow! Ky is 12 today. Crazy! Ok, Ok, I'll say it: it seems like yesterday I was holding her in my arms for the first time. Now, she's in junior high, wearing contacts, sharing my clothes, and looking me straight in the eyes.

In Kennedy's eyes, Ky is the coolest person alive. In Jaxon's eyes, she's a girl, so she's okay, I guess. :) In our eyes, Ky is a strong girl. Braver than I have ever been. She's started school in a new school 4 times. And has made several friends at each one. She does great in school and loves to be involved. She loves to share Jesus with her friends. We are so proud of her.

Ky's been with us for the long haul...sitting with us in some of our college classes, being the subject of observation assignments, watching both of us graduate from college, going to track meets with her dad, sitting in the stands on Friday nights, moving, moving, moving again..

When Ky came, which was one week after our first anniversary (a little sooner than we had planned!), I had no idea what I was doing. I called my mom and my mom-in-law so many times for so many little reasons. Even still, I think she's turned out okay. I guess maybe those little things didn't matter as much as I had thought.
