it's off to work we go...

As I'm planning to work part-time starting in the fall, I was thinking about some jobs (outside the house) that I've had in the past...

a babysitter...not surprising, although it was a summer job. Mon-Fri. 40 hours a week. entire summer of my junior year.

a lifeguard...one of the coolest, but most nerve-wracking jobs. (and the hardest to qualify for...maybe I'll re-certify now that they don't do the brick test anymore in lifeguard certification!) seriously, they have a no running rule at the pool for a reason! thankfully, I never had to rescue anyone, but I did have a mean whistle twirl.

a factory worker...it was probably the worst job of all of them. My upper body was pretty defined from all of the lifting though. it was one of those college summer jobs. (I so appreciated my mom after that summer. She worked there for years.)

a data entry person...an okay job that brought in extra money. it was in a parts warehouse. surrounded by dirt.

a custodian...midnight shift at the high school. not bad work, just weird hours. although, the skin on my big toe is still fried from the floor stripping chemicals.

oh, can't forget about the cashier job at Target. it was fun to scan things and have a cash register...for about a day. then it got old. especially when the customers were jerks. so, be nice to your cashier, it's not her fault the price rang up wrong! yep, I worked there for the insane day after Thanksgiving. crazy people out there.

a library...nice job. in the inter-library loan department. laid back. no pressure. great co-workers.

and, finally, a substitute teacher...great money. great hours. I found out just how hard a kindergarten teacher works. they sure deserve that summer break.
