Well, here it is, August 13, the second Wednesday in August, also Grandma Kaufmann's birthday (happy birthday, Grandma!). You may wonder, now why is this day so special?
This is a pivotal day in our household. We change gears, we step into a different mode. This is the first day of football across the state of Illinois. Yes, doubles begin today. Of course, because of the late start this year, many schools will only have 1 day of doubles (Whew, for the players, right?)
For years, when the kids were smaller, I dreaded this day. I put my hood over my eyes and was just determined that the next few months were going to be hard and horrible. Let's face it, taking care of 3 kids pretty much by yourself is kind of difficult. However, I made it through and the kids seemed to have turn out okay... so far. :)
This year, I am excited. I have spent a lot of time with this team. More time than I have with any of Jason's other teams. I have watched them practice, I have watched them perform. I have seen them at their strongest, and some at their weakest. I'm excited to see how their hard work is going to affect their game.
Go Steelmen!
If you're up for a laugh, listen to the second track on the playlist. (No offense to all those baseball fans, just a little humor for opening day...)
For others, I realize it should be are.
