can I just say I love these guys?

This weekend, well, actually, Friday was a crazy, sad day for a bunch of kids from JT and the people in our house. In the afternoon, Jason got word that a student from Central had meningitis. The school had to cancel all Joliet Township Athletic events for the weekend, including the football game.

The football game that the seniors would be recognized at. You know, that senior night that you anticipate when you play your first high school football game. The last high school football game several JT players would ever play.

He sadly gave the news to the players as they gathered in the weightroom. As Jason had expected, the news was recieved with anger, sadness, and disbelief.

I cannot express how sad I was/am for those guys and the rest of the coaching staff. It's crazy to have your season end, let alone end so suddenly and unexpectedly, without closure.

Saturday was a sad day for Jason and an exciting one for Jax. Jason wasn't coaching a game he was planning to, and Jaxon was playing his flag football play-off game(s). What a mix of emotions in our house! When it was time for Jax to go to his game, Jason drove him over to the field, and the girls and I joined him at gametime.

As I walked up to the field, I saw something that I had always hoped for, but never expected.

I saw something that made my heart smile and cry all at the same time.

I saw a bunch of guys in JT jerseys cheering for a little guy that thinks they are the best guys in the world.

A boy who will do whatever it takes to watch them practice and cheer them on.

A boy who knows each one of them and can tell you each of their jersey numbers and positions.

A boy who loves nothing more than to stand on the sidelines as they play their hearts out.

A boy who smiles inside and outside when they ruffle his hair while saying, "Hey action Jaxon!"

So, even though Jax's team didn't win the flag football championship, he had an awesome day. He will never forget the time the football players came to watch him play.

I told you these guys are some pretty great guys!

Dana, that is sooooo awesome.
That speaks of ONE THING... Jason's leadership. What great evidence of the impact/influence both of you have had on those guys.
What a great thing for you, Jaxon and Jason.

So sorry the seniors didn't get to play their last game :(
