the bed

One of the big things I had to change in Kennedy's room was her bed. I wanted to keep it. After all, Jason built it for Ky when we were expecting Jax. And, we had plans for the space underneath it (which have evolved from hanging a hammock to being a reading area with a beach chair).

But, I just didn't like the finish. It was wood for years, until we moved here. Then, I painted it white. After 3 years of the girls, it was looking pretty old and worn.

I just needed to do something with it.

(Sorry about the fuzzy picture. I think I had my camera set to the wrong setting for all of the before pictures.)

So, I chose to go along with our beach bedroom theme and sanded down the bed to make it look like an old beach shack. (Cause that's what beach shacks look like, right?) To add even more character, I tied some rope around each leg of the bed -

I'm wondering if I need some thicker rope, though.

Oh well, I went with what I had laying around the house. Okay, so it wasn't really just laying around the house. I was actually using one of them . . . I guess the other one WAS really just laying around.

You can barely see it, but doesn't the bed look super cool against the wall color? I'm excited for this room!

Today's project: the dresser.
