I've returned

So, I've just spent the last 4 days with 50 high school guys. 50 sweaty, stinky, hard-working football players. I am so glad I was able to be a part of football camp, but it's great to be home.

When I signed up for the job (for pay I couldn't refuse - a free t-shirt and bracelet), I didn't realize how many blisters, scrapes, and cuts I would be cleaning up and bandaging. For a bonus, I got to take care of 2 very badly blistered toes (from some sand drills) for 2 days. (Poor guy, he wanted to be out on the practice field so badly.) I filled water bottles, made ice bags, took pictures, filmed practices, updated the blog, covered wounds, and tried (emphasis on tried) to tape thumbs. Definitely NOT my strength!

Silly me, I packed a very good (so I've heard) book to read in my spare time, in the shade, during practice. Well, I don't think I had ANY spare time. Seriously. I didn't even have time to pick the book up and read the cover. I stayed crazy busy and am looking forward to relaxing a bit and getting a good night's sleep - . . . NOT taping up sweaty feet would be nice, too. :)

But, these boys were still just boys. Someone needed to clean off their bloody arm and bandage it. Someone needed to pour peroxide on their sores and bandage them back up for practice. Someone needed to fill their water bottles. Someone needed to take pictures of them as they worked their tails off in practice. Someone needed to get their great catch on film.

I guess my name was Someone this week, but that's ok. I'm glad to stand by Jason and support him, even at football camp.
