Over the past few months, God has been waking us up.
Us, as in Jason and I.
We had fallen asleep to the realization that our oldest child, even though she is a teenager, still really needs us. Really needs us.
We knew that the younger two still needed us to guide and prod them. You know the basics.
"Did you brush your teeth?"
"Did you make your bed?"
"Did you say 'thank you'?"
You know, those important things that all kids need to learn.
We realized that we were on autopilot with Ky, though. So, . . . God, in His omnipotence, opened our eyes and showed us this awesome opportunity to teach Ky. (At the time, we weren't seeing this as a blessing. We were seeing this as a failure on our part. As we look back, however, we see it as an answer to prayer. The prayer that goes like this, "God, give us opportunity to teach Ky the right way. Give us ways to guide her towards you. Show us how to be good parents to your child, because we have NO idea what we're doing!")
And, God answered our prayer.
Of course, not in the way we thought He would.
But, in a way He knew would be best.
And, I can say that the wake-up call woke us up. All of us. And, we are headed in the right direction.
Thankfully.
We won't be letting our guard down anytime soon, or anytime at all. And, if we do, we pray that God will wake us up again.
