Football is upon us. Well, . . . actually it's been here all summer. . . Wait, then there was the off-season that began 2 weeks after last year's season ended. . . ok, . . . maybe it really never stops.
I guess, maybe, for one week it did. No football.
Except for the texts from players and some parents asking about the practice schedule. And the occasional stops to see some real football stadiums. And the conversations about concerns or goals about the fast approaching season. Ok, so maybe there was some football, but at least my coach was all mine. :)
We took a family vacation a few weeks ago. The best part? The best part was being with our friends. You know, the friends that have a deep connection with you. Friends that walked through the fire with you and you with them. History. Memories. And, most importantly, share an intense relationship with Jesus Christ. Those friends that sharpen you. That encourage you. That build you up and challenge you to be who God intended you to be. God really didn't have a destination in mind for us for our vacation. Really, I don't think He cared about what we did or where we went. I know He cared - it just wasn't as important to Him as who we spent time with.
I'm thankful for our vacation. I'm thankful for the time we spent with our friends. I'm thankful for the words that were spoken into our life. For the challenges and ideas we came home with. For the new memories we made.

God had me in mind when He planned your steps too. My heart is still full from the conversations we had and the memories we made. Seriously...it was wonderful!
