Ahhh, It's Friday!

Well, the last day of the school week is finally here! It's the season's first game day as well, so you can imagine the excitement floating around the Aubry household.

I thought I'd share a confession of sorts.

I made Kennedy a milkshake for breakfast. But, before you think I'm a horrible mom, let me justify my behavior.

She's my weird breakfast child. And, if she could go without eating breakfast, she totally would. I have to make her put something in her stomach before she heads out the door. So, today, after she looked through the cabinets and the fridge several times finding nothing appetizing to her stomach, I offered to make her a smoothie. I have lots of frozen fruits in the freezer just for smoothies, so I asked her what kind she would like. Banana-blueberry? Melon-grape? Blueberry-melon? "No. No. No. How about just banana?" was her reply.

"Ok," I said, "But that seems really plain, Kennedy. Do you want to add anything else?"

"Peanut butter!" she said.

"Alright!" I said. (Here's where it goes from a smoothie to a milkshake.) "How about we throw some chocolate syrup in there?" (Chocolate milk ? . . . kids have chocolate milk all the time for breakfast! And, she drinks water for lunch while all of the other kids drink their chocolate milk. Perfect!) "Oh, we don't have chocolate syrup . . . but we do have hot chocolate packets!"

Oh, was it delicious! And, she loved it, too. I feel like it was healthy because it included fruit (banana), dairy (skim milk), protein (peanut butter), and chocolate (it is a separate food group, . . . really.)

And, that's the story of how a smoothie turned into a milkshake.

She'll be soaring from that milkshake 'till lunch! Yum! I just heard from a friend that pancakes loaded with chocolate AND pb chips are wonderful... Going to try that this weekend.
