I bet you're trying to figure out the title right now, aren't you? Well, I'm going to try to give you a glimpse of what it means to be a football coach's wife on Wednesday.
Now I bet you're saying, "Wait, that doesn't line up with the title." You're a smart cookie!
You're right. The title is actually "What Does It Mean To Be Married To a Football Coach Wednesday." I figured that, in order to be true to my blog title, I might want to give you a glimpse into my life. Being a football coach's wife is actually a huge part of my life, so I wouldn't be real if I didn't share this part with you.
Football is officially underway. Our first game of the season is Friday. It's hard to believe the 2011 football season has started, but, like always, it's here sooner than I feel is right.
1. Being married to a football coach means we don't eat supper as a family. :( That's probably one of the worst parts of it. For years, I would wait until Jason got home from practice to sit down as a family to eat. Then, I realized it would be better for the kids if we ate at a normal dinnertime, then just warmed up Jason's plate when he got home. It's just not good to fill their bellies then send them to bed right away. Sure, it worked when they were babies - just not as effective now.
2. It means spending lots of time during the week organizing team meals. Believe me, this one has taken me right out of my comfort zone. I actually have to communicate with people and, hardest of all, respond back to them within a reasonable amount of time. If you know me at all, you know I'm not very good at getting back to you. Sorry!
3. It means that our wardrobe consists of black and yellow for the next few months.
4. It means that date night with my husband actually means sitting in aluminum bleachers next to his parents (which I'm completely thankful for!) watching him coach. Let me tell you, not much bonding goes on when you have a date night like that! He doesn't even drive me home afterwards. It's a lot like my junior prom (his senior prom). He had his friend drive me home. Seriously.
I guess we still ended up together, eventually. Maybe this will work!
5. It means that the only movie we watch the week before game 1 is Friday Night Lights. It's the edited version, relax! And, I'm so into football that listening to the music from it actually makes my heart race.
That's all I have for this Wednesday. No worries! We still have several weeks to go - hopefully more than 9!
Go Tigers!
