the wall

It's Kennedy's turn to get her room done.

Yay!

The green and yellow walls were going, that is, after I prepared this crazy wall for painting.

You see, I thought it would be a cool idea to put up square tiles of corkboard so the girls could display pictures, artwork, and just stuff they didn't want to throw away and I didn't want sitting on my counter.

It wasn't a bad idea.

Really.

But, mounting the corkboard with the adhesive squares was.

I should've just put a nail in each corner of each tile. After all, filling holes is a lot easier than removing adhesive foam squares from a wall.

As we first started working.

Still looking happy.

So, you see, I not only had tiny tack holes to fill, I also had those stinky squares to remove.

So, after spending about $5 on a bottle of stuff that said it would remove almost anything from almost any surface (except adhesive from walls), I realized that plain old rubbing alcohol worked better. (Except it stung my cracked fingers like crazy!)

After removing more than half of the adhesive squares, I thought about baby oil and how it removes sticky stuff and thought I'd try it. It totally works and doesn't sting!!

I finally used all the elbow and shoulder grease I had and removed all of those silly sticky things, patched the holes, sanded them down, and threw some primer over all of my work.

Yep, yep, yep. I think it was worth it.
